Overview :
A Brief History of Time attempts to explain a range of subjects in cosmology, including the Big Bang, black holes and light cones, to the nonspecialist reader. Its main goal is to give an overview of the subject but, unusual for a popular science book, it also attempts to explain some complex mathematics. The 1996 edition of the book and subsequent editions discuss the possibility of time travel and wormholes and explore the possibility of having a universe without a quantum singularity at the beginning of time.

State And Explain Stationary Wave - Long Question | Physics Class 12

Stationary Wave
Physics | Long Question [4 marks]
State and Explain Stationary Wave ?
[HSEB 2063] | Class : 12

Solution :
If two or more wave are travelling simultaneously through a medium, the sesultant displacement of a particle of the medium is equal to the vector cal sum of the individual displacement given to it by two waves. Let us consider two harmonic wave of equal amplitude and frequency travelling in the same medium in opposite to each other are y1 = A sin(kx – ωt) and y= A sin(kx + ωt)

X-Rays - Four Important Questions With Answer
For: Class 12

1. In the production of X-ray, how will you control the penetrating power of X-rays? [HSEB 2052]
Ans: Penetrating power of X-ray depends on its energy. Energy of X-ray depends on applied potential difference across the target and the filament. So as potential difference is increased, penetrating power X-ray is also increased and vice versa. Hence penetrating power of X-ray can be controlled by controlling the applied potential difference between the two electrodes in X-ray tube.

Applications of eddy Current
Class: 12
Unit: Electricity and magnetism
Chapter: Electromagnetic Induction

Applications of eddy Current
1. Induction Furnace: It is based on the heating effect of eddy currents. The metallic block to be melts is placed in a high frequency changing magnetic field. Strong eddy current are induced in the block. Due to the high resistance of the metal, large amount of heat is produced in it. This heat ultimately melts the metallic block. So the induction furnace is used to separate metals from their ores and to make some alloys.

Electrical Circuit - 10+ Short Questions with answer
Grade: XII
Subject: Physics

1. “Wheatstone Bridge method of determination of resistance is considered to be more accurate than the voltmeter-ammeter method.” Why?
Ans. Wheatstone bridge method is a null deflection method. The resistance determined does not depend on the deflection of the galvanometer and the supply voltage fluctuations. So, it is more accurate than other methods.

Wave Interference - Short Questions With Answer
Class: 12

1. Can two independent sources of light produce interference?
Ans. Two independent sources cannot be coherent because:  Light is emitted by individual atoms and not by the bulk of matter acting as a whole.  Even a tiniest source consists of millions of atoms, and emission of light by them takes place independently.  Even an atom emits an unbroken wave of above 10-8 second due to its transition from a higher energy state to a lower state.

Short Questions with Answer - Nature and Propagation of Light
Class: 12

1. What is a wave front?
Ans. During the propagation of the wave, all the particles of the medium which are located at the same distance from the source receive the disturbance simultaneously and vibrate in the same phase. Thus, a wave front of light at any instance is the locus of all particles of the medium vibrating in the same phase at that time. The shape of wave front depends on the nature of source and the disturbance of the wave front from the source.

Short Questions with Answer from Acoustic Phenomena
Class: 12

1. How are beats produced? What is beat frequency?
Ans. When two sound waves of nearly the same frequency are travelling in the same medium in the same direction, the intensity of the resultant sound rises and falls regularly a number of times a second. These periodic variations in the intensity of sound due to superposition of two sound waves of slightly different frequencies are called beats and hence in this way they are formed. The number of beats heard per second is called beat frequency.

Short Question Answer | Physics
Short Questions-Answer from Waves in Pipes and Strings
Class: 12

1)The frequency of fundamental note of an open organ pipe is double than for closed pipe of same length .Why?
When an air column in an organ pipe is set into vibration, the air column must vibrate with an anti node in case of open organ pipe and a node in case of closed organ pipe. The ends of open organ pipe are antinodes and middle point is node in the fundamental note. If l be the length of pipe and λ0 be the wavelength, then  l =λ0/2 or λ0=2l

Wave Motion - Short Questions With Answer | Physics Class 12

Short Question-Answer form Wave Motion Class: 11
Short Answer Question | Physics
Short Question-Answer form Wave Motion
Class: 12

1. Differentiate between forced vibration and free vibration.
The free vibration and forced vibration can be differentiated by the following points: A body is said to execute free vibration when it is vibrating by itself, while a body is said to execute forced vibration, when it is compelled to vibrate by a periodic force at a frequency other then its natural frequency. A body in free vibration vibrates with its natural frequency while in forced vibration it vibrates with the frequency of the source. A body in free vibration vibrates with the help of internal elastic forces while in forced vibration it vibrates with the help of external periodic force. Free vibration is self-sustained vibration while forced vibration while forced vibration is externally sustained vibration.

Mechanical Waves - Short Questions With Answer | Physics Class 12

Short Answer Question from Mechanical Waves Class: 12
Short Answer Question | Physics
Short Question-Answer from Mechanical Waves
Class: 12

1. Why sound made at a distance can be heard distinctly at night than in the day time?
Ans. At night, the atmospheric air becomes more moist than at the day time, which reduces the density of air in the night time. As it is known, the velocity of sound is inversely proportional to the square root of the density (i.e. vs 1/ρ). So, at night velocity of sound is more at night than at day due to reduced density of air. Apart from this, the sound absorbing bodies such as people, vehicles and noise from other sound producing bodies are least at night time as compared to the day time. So sound made at a distance can be heard more distinctly at night than at the day time.

Wave theory of light
The subject of optics has been divided into two categories that are:
i) Ray Optics
ii) Wave Optics

Ray optics assumed that light consists of rays. A ray of light is the straight line path followed by light in going from one point to another. According to wave theory of light, the light is the form of energy which transfers in a medium in the form of transverse wave motion.

Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) - Definition | Physics Class 12

Simple Harmonic Motion (S.H.M)
Class : 12

We all are familiar with periodic motion, i.e. the motion which repeats itself at equal intervals of time. A few common examples of periodic motion are the motion of simple pendulums and compound pendulums, the motion of electrons in their orbits, motion of planets around the sun, vibration of stretched wires, motion of a mass attached to a string etc. The interval of time after which the motion is repeated is called time period of the motion. If a particle in periodic motion has to and fro motion over the same path, is called Oscillatory or vibratory motion. The motion of a mass spring system, motion of simple pendulum, vibration of atoms at their lattice sites are a few examples of oscillatory motion. Most of the oscillatory motions in nature are simple harmonic motions (s.h.m.).
